Best laptops under $800
Between $500 and $800 is where laptops get noticeably nicer: better screens, longer battery life, 16GB of RAM, and even entry gaming GPUs. These are the laptops in that range we have listed on Amazon right now.
Quick picks
What to look for
- 16GB of RAM should be standard at this price.
- Look for a brighter screen (300 nits or more) and ideally a higher resolution or OLED panel.
- For gaming, an RTX 4050 or 4060 class GPU is the realistic target under $800.
- MacBook Air models often dip into this range and have excellent battery life.
- Check the ports. Some thin laptops only have USB-C.
